Chopin And The Noses

I'm sitting in a darkened room listening to  Chopin Noctures and glancing out at the blizzard from time to time while I blog.

It was an interesting afternoon. I stopped at the post office and, as I walked through the main doors, a car in the street started repeatedly sounding its (very shrill) horn. I turned around and saw a man in a small car beeping and gesticulating frantically, occasionally pointing at my vehicle. Hrm. Did I leave my door open or something? I stepped back through the post office doors and onto the steps outside. He started beeping and gesticulating even more, while making odd stretching motions with his hands before pointing to my car.

WTF?

Then it dawned on me. He wanted me to move my car up a bit so he could squeeze his little compact in behind me, probably with about two inches to spare. Yeah. In your dreams, buddy, I thought. I walked back into the post office. Some people really have nerve. Then again, it's plainly obvious that the post office has inadequate parking, given the amount of double parking and sketchy vehicular jostling that goes on there.

Later, while driving through a raging blizzard, the fam and I were talking about the Groundhog Day prognostications for this year. Teen-o said the American ground hog predicted six more weeks of winter. I pointed out that the Canadian ground hog predicted an early spring. Hubby pointed out, rather dryly, that, in Canada, this was like spring, so both ground hogs were right. Heh.

Then, as we sat in a cheap restaurant paying for food that was no good for us and not within our budget, I suddenly realized, with simultaneous awe and envy, that the two women sitting next to us, for some reason, had perfect noses. We all agreed. Have you ever seen someone with a perfect nose? We have.

And that's the kind of afternoon it was.
